BONUS BLUEPRINT PhD course held in Helsingør, Denmark
“Molecular analyses of bacterioplankton composition and function”
Between 22nd and 28th of October, ten students from seven nations visited Helsingør, Denmark, to participate in the PhD course “Molecular analyses of bacterioplankton composition and function”. An international group of twelve teachers was invited to cover diverse topics, including lectures on the ecology of oceanic bacteria and viruses, promises and challenges of cultivation approaches, amplicon and metagenome sequencing, and on autonomous instruments in microbial and biogeochemical ocean research. The week concluded with a discussion round on the future of marine microbial ecology.
